Summer holidays 2015
On Saturday we started our holidays with the trip between Oporto and Tavira in Algarve. The journey lasted for seven hours till we arrived to Pedras d’el Rei and the Barril beach. We unloaded our Opel Caravan in the quarters of Pedras d’el Rei and, at once, my son, Daisy my she-dog and me, we went to the beach, the Barril beach. We made the stroll through the «Ria Formosa» the Beautiful Ria-estuary and crossed the little bridge and we, three, were side by side with the little train of the beach, the lovely train that helps the women and children go through the fine Ria. The walk, side by side with the tracks of the train, wasn’t too long and tiring but, instead, it was wonderful because we were in a rare landscape. On this walk, as it was ebb-tide, we could behold crabs in the mud of the ria-estuary and the wild high-leggy birds. If it was flood-tide we could have seen the vegetation under water. When we, three, approached the beach we had the shade of the Australian pines and finally we were in the lodgings of the beach restaurant. We crossed the walkway of timber and reached the shore. The sand, the huge beach, the tamed sea, the scent, the sun, the surge all this showed us God in so perfect a nature. We took off our shoes and the water was warm, so warm, like a paradisiac beach. We came back and strolled side by side with the little train again and had diner in the little house hired by us. On Sunday we woke up at eight o’clock a.m., ate something and my wife, my son, Daisy (my she-dog) and me we went to the Barril beach. Daisy was very aggressive with other dogs and she is a little one! She contrived to escape of the leash and chased other dog with half her size a very little one and another time Daisy chased a big one. We were very distressed with our she-dog!! We came to our little house and we had lunch. At four o’clock p.m. we returned to the beach but Daisy stayed at home. At ten o’clock p.m. we went to Tavira and bought a new leash to Daisy. On Monday the day dawned cloudy and my wife, my son, Daisy and me we went for a little drive to buy some souvenirs. We had lunch at the restaurant of the beach.
At the end of our holidays, when we returned home, the journey had been long and we stopped to have lunch in Alcobaça. We visited its monastery. The church was huge, sumptuous, glamorous and with very high ceilings. The last but not the least we saw the graves of Pedro and Inês. These graves were very well carved in the stone and, so, they were astonishing.
