«Indian pepper»

The biggest Portuguese hero was «Infant don Henrique» (Henry the Navigator). His father was the Portuguese king Don João I of Portugal and his mother our Queen Philippa of Lancaster.

He, really, was the biggest hero because he organized a school of navigation to trade in the Atlantic Ocean. His work brought to Portugal many riches and had other consequences, in my opinion:

1º - He ruined the Mediterranean commerce and, I think, our forests, our pine groves, with dockyards.

But he set a permanent, a methodical, an intense exploration of the African coast.

2º - Afterwards when the Portuguese and Spanish Kings signed the «Treaty of Tordesillas» the knowledge of the school of navigation of «Henry the Navigator» had the utmost importance when both kings decided the Tordesillas meridian. This meridian divided the Earth, the World, the Globe in two halfs for commerce and exploration of unknown lands. This meridian passed by South America and the lands at its left were for Spanish king  and at its right side they were for Portuguese king.

And the knowledge of the school of navigation of «Henry the Navigator» it did an amazing event.

The Portuguese king caught all the world and the Spanish king got only half South America (and his remainder of the world was the Pacific Ocean).

The Portuguese king caught Brazil and its resources of gold, all Africa and its many riches (and why I was/am «The son of the hunter»), India and its pepper and cinnamon, and all Asia and its commerce, Macau a Portuguese Territory near Hong-Kong, and so on, and so forth.

The Portuguese built many and massive fortresses in all Asia and fought the pirates of the seas, a plague and calamity.

We, Portuguese, brought gold and spice in great amount to Lisbon!!

And the Portuguese court was very rich! Very, very rich.

In our history the most famous richness, of all we brought of the colonies, is/was the:

 Indian Pepper!

So, all this blabbing it is because I say to many people that my van carries, always, a great deal of «Indian pepper»!!

The books, the knowledge, the learning, they are the modern richness!!

They are:

«Indian Pepper»!!
